This transformational gift will kickstart FBMS’s upcoming comprehensive campaign to not only develop urgently needed housing across Southern Massachusetts, but also sustain the critical services that make that housing successful, including ongoing maintenance, property operations, and case management support. The Alvarium Foundation is no stranger to FBMS, having previously played a critical role in A Path Home, the campaign that helped launch the organization's groundbreaking Housing Resource Center (HRC) model. Thanks to that initial campaign, FBMS was able to open the Yawkey Housing Resource Center in Quincy and the Smith Family Housing Resource Center in Brockton—both of which now include on-site permanent supportive housing. “What sets FBMS apart is its thoughtful, data-informed approach that puts people first,” said a trustee of the Alvarium Foundation. “Through its Housing Resource Centers and supportive housing model, FBMS offers more than just a roof—it provides the wraparound services that help individuals achieve stability and long-term self-sufficiency. Their work is strategic, scalable, and grounded in outcomes. This next phase—investing in supportive housing—is a natural evolution of their proven model, and we’re proud to support it.” As part of its strategic goal to develop 150 units of housing to support our community’s most vulnerable, FBMS is currently advancing multiple projects — with more than half already in some phase of development and backed by public funding commitments. These include: · Stoughton: 24 units through a hotel-to-housing conversion · Brockton: 29 new units new construction adjacent to Roadway Apartments · Quincy: 24 new units new construction in collaboration with NeighborWorks Housing Solutions The campaign will fuel additional efforts like these across the region. With the support of community partners and donors, FBMS is aiming to raise at least $10 million in total to meet the rising demand for permanent housing solutions. “This incredibly generous gift from the Alvarium Foundation allows us to think big and move fast,” said John Yazwinski, President & CEO of FBMS. “We’re deeply grateful for their longtime partnership and belief in our vision. Their investment strengthens our ability to scale what we know works—housing with built-in support services—and bring safe, dignified housing to even more of our neighbors experiencing homelessness.” FBMS will share more information about the campaign in the coming months. In the meantime, the organization celebrates this extraordinary milestone and looks forward to building a future where everyone has a place to call home.
